I love my smoothie blender. It’s perfect. I use it every morning that I go to work, throw everything in there and hit start and put my lunch together and then its ready. I never have a problem with it blending up everything smoothly and it works really fast. Just make sure there’s enough liquid in it. It’s also really easy to clean and comes a part to go in the dishwasher. So I rinse it out every day and run it through the dishwasher once a week.

This is a great blender for smoothies!!
I got the blender to make my morning protein shake which is powder, almond milk, and ice cubes. I’ve also used it a few times to make fruit smoothies with chunks of fruit and it had no issue. I think it’s absolutely perfect for what I wanted. I had another well-known brand that started smelling like motor oil and not working well. I then started using my big KitchenAid blender but the problem with that is that when it would start up on any speed it would throw the powder of the shake up into the nooks and crannies of the lid and sides of jar, even when I tried to mix it up before with a whisk. So I was interested in something that had less space for that to happen, but still powerful. This smoothie blender is actually engineered not only to be the right size for smoothies, but it has the same function the previous “well known brand” does – a smoothie button that runs for about 45 seconds and does a great job.***Also important to note- this blender has a three year warranty which is 2 years longer than all of the other brands I’ve looked at including the very popular and expensive ones.I can tell you they stand behind their products, because initially the lid I received with the blender had a slight tear at the bottom of the spout part. There was a seam there, and apparently it can separate on the old lid style, which is what I must have received. I reached out to Hamilton Beach and they were great about sending out a new lid at no cost to me. The replacement lid is different, so I’m assuming they updated the style. Like other reviewers have said, the lid I now have is somewhat difficult to get off but what I usually do is place the blender in the sink and then hold it against the sink wall while simultaneously removing the lid. It’s a harder plastic than the initial lid I received. I’m guessing they changed the design because of issues with the old style splitting? Anyway, yes the lid is a little hard to get off, but I would rather have a lid that’s hard to get off then a lid that falls off when you’re pouring out your smoothie :-). Bottom line, this is a great blender that does what it is intended to do, it has a great warranty in the company stands behind their product. I think it’s a great value!

Was really disappointed and almost wanted to send it back
I was hesitant to buy this blender as it is so much cheaper than some of the high end smoothie machines. Most of the reviews stated that they were from a promotion. My first smoothie did not blend well and it seemed to have a hard time blending in the large frozen strawberries. Was really disappointed and almost wanted to send it back. Then I read the instructions….silly me. They state a minimum amount of liquid to blend well. I made my second smoothie with more liquid and it handled the ice and frozen strawberries well. Will keep. It has a pouring spout on the top which is ok. The lid fell off and made a bit of a mess.

Crappy blade attachment
I bought the blender two months ago for it’s glass jar. It was intended for veggie smoothies. I justed to make veggie smoothies for the last two weeks(once a day), and worked pretty good. The motor was pretty powerful, although a little bit loud, but the smoothies were pretty smooth. The jar is easy to clean.Unfortunately, the bottom of the blade which attached to the motor fell apart and smoked.It only lasted about two weeks!!!If you look at the pictures, you can see that the bottom part was glued together, apparently it was poorly designed and cheaply made.Very disappointed!!!

Very happy with this blender
I’ve been using this blender for smoothies for the past three weeks. I feel there is a learning curve with any new appliance, but this blender has been easy to learn how to use. After reading the directions, and after a little trial and error, here are my tips.The pitcher is easy to assemble and place on the base. The cover fits tightly, which I like, and it takes a little practice to be sure to get it completely engaged with the rim. When removing the cover, I make sure the spout is open and gently pull up on an edge on the cover until it starts to release. Do it a few times and you’ll be fine.Placing the pitcher on the base is easy – simply set it down and don’t turn the handle once the pitcher is engaged. I turned the handle the first time I used it and that caused the bottom of the pitcher to start to unscrew – totally my fault.My typical smoothie ingredients in this order are a few small ice cubes, 3/4 cup cold filtered water, a cut up apple with peel, a peeled orange, a generous handful of frozen blueberries and a generous handful of frozen spinach (I buy fresh spinach and freeze it in a zipper bag for smoothies). I pulse the blender a few times to get ingredients down into the blades and then press auto smoothie. When the auto cycle stops my smoothie is perfect.Using enough liquid (juice, water) is important for blending, but because everything I add is either very cold or frozen my smoothies are thick, cold and not watery at all.I like pouring my finished smoothie into a glass using the pour spout on the cover. Very neat.Finally, this blender is amazingly easy to keep sparkling clean. It disassembles and reassembles so easily, it can all go into the dishwasher or be hand washed and the area around the blade assembly can’t trap liquid ingredients. This means I’m always sure that my smoothie today doesn’t contain any residue from yesterday’s smoothie. I had worries about that with the bullet-type blender I used previously.I feel comfortable recommending this blender. And the price is amazing compared to other blenders I considered.

I used this blender for less than a year and the blade assembly broke. I activated my warranty, which Hamilton Beach made it impossible to use. They offered to send me a replacement, but said I’d need to pay for shipping and handling, and made it impossible for me to complete the process.They only accept payment by phone in Canada, and make it impossible for the customer to pay.I gave up and bought a Vitamix instead.
