Dangerous! Blew Up While Running
Flask failed with a loud explosion during a hydrogen run. A large piece broke off and flew across the room when it exploded, spilling water everywhere and onto my wife who was sitting close to where the flask was located. We ordered the unit in August 2025 and this failure occurred in January 2026. This is the second Echo flask we’ve purchased that has failed this way. The first one failed with a long crack forming at the edge of the clear plastic while under pressure from running a cycle but no pieces broke off like this one did. We’ve submitted a warranty to Echo Water and are yet to hear back, but buyers be aware of this dangerous issue that I have seen only one other customer has posted about.From my understanding of basic physics, the rectangular shape is a major design flaw for a relatively brittle plastic shell designed to undergo repeated high pressure cycles. The corners and edges serve as a stress points that will weaken a bit more with each cycle, leading to eventual failure. It is why high-pressure containers are generally built as cylinders and spheres, not as cubes or rectangular shapes.With a flaw like this, Echo Water recommends running a cleaning cycle with hot (not boiling) water every week. They also recommend using a one-third vinegar + two-thirds hot water mixture to run a deep cleaning cycle from time to time. I can see how adhering to these cleaning recommendations with hot water and vinegar accelerates weakening of the plastic shell even faster.

We recently purchased the Eco Hydrogen Flask through Amazon and were happy with the product overall. Just a small note for other buyers—ours arrived with a US power adapter, which was a bit inconvenient here in Australia. It was a minor oversight on my part, but definitely something to be mindful of when ordering.

The device itself is good. You can definitely observe the health benefits with consistent, no arguments there. That was of until the device broke after 5 weeks use (well, the display broke) and now it’s practically unusable, which given the price is disappointing. The process to get a warranty claim with the device manufacturer is beyond painful. So annoying, could be an amazing product, and will gladly upgrade my review if the supplier/OEM can sort me a return.
