Update: 14NOV25I like this device even more now. I got a smart plug that uses the same app as this sensor, and I can set the plug to turn on or off based on the reading of the sensor. If the barn sensor gets below 40, it turns on the heaters; if it gets above 65, it turns off the heaters.If there’s a way to make this work for devices/plugs that aren’t on the same app, I haven’t been able to find it, but I will gladly make sure to buy plugs and other controls that work with this app knowing that I can automate their control this way.———– Original review ———We need to keep track of the exact temperature of the buildings where we keep our rabbits, and this works great. It’s really nice being able to just ask Alexa what the temperature is, and get an immediate answer. It could not be any easier, but you have to use the right language in your request, “Alexa, what’s the temperature of the Rabbit 1 sensor?” or it may not give you an answer.I’ve checked it against thermometers in the buildings, and it’s very accurate.I’ve never had any problem with connectivity, even in bad weather.It’s very small, so you can put it just about anywhere.If you need to know the temperature outside, in the attic, basement, barns, etc., this is an easy solution that is a really good value. Fantastic little temperature senders
I am using these with the SmartLife app….maybe that has something to do with my success?I didn’t know what to expect on these little guys, not very expensive and everyone complains about the battery life, so much so I bought usb to AAA converts for the two I have (haven’t used them yet!) I bought and linked these up over two months ago and STILL on the same batteries I put I’m to start with. For a wireless, WIFI temperature sending units, that is FANTASTIC! I will absolutely buy more if these.Why I bought them: made the jump a few years ago to mini splits. When the minisplits are in heat or cool mode, the algorithm they use make them over heat or over cool. Not their fault, the units I have are over sized for their application by a good margin. In the winter I cannot run them in “Auto” mode (holds the temperature within half degree to set point) because they do not defrost for whatever reason. So…I use these little units to actually turn on and off the mini split units via the app to keep the temperature within a degree hysteresis of setpoint. And it works absolutely perfect.If you are concerned about the battery life…dont. If you are still concerned about the battery life, look for usb to AAA adapter here on Amazon. It gives you a wall wart and replaces the battery in the unit with an adapter.Again…great little units, will buy a bunch more of them for different applications.

Poor battery life
Battery only lasts 3-4 weeks. I have an outdoor temperature sensor that works with my “atomic” clock. The batteries in that unit last several months. Does not work through aluminum siding. (Enclosed Porch)

Displays in Alexa but can not be used in Alexa automations.
This does not “work with Alexa” and saying so is a lie. It will display in Alexa but cannot be used to trigger routines in Alexa which makes it useless in automation. As a remote thermometer they work ok but they cannot be used to trigger events such as alarms or turn on other devices when a target temperature is reached. To be clear, these will only work to trigger other devices if you pay for a subscription. You can also ask Alexa to tell you the temperature and humidity.1 year later; they eat batteries, you cannot export data (you can take a screenshot but that’s not ideal), they seem fairly accurate but slow to respond. The only way to get real functionality is to pay for a subscription. Out-of-the-box, these are only useful as a remote thermometer not a controller.

Very cool wifi temp sensor!
I’m about to leave town on business, and there’s a winter storm forecast that means my house will freeze up while I’m gone. I had busted pipes before, and that was just when I was out for my local 9-5. I’ll be out for 10 days now and really do not want to come home to busted pipes.Been testing these sensor for a few days now… remote access is just fine. Going to hook up heaters to remote plugs and monitor that I can start heaters remotely if temps get too low. Description says they can “automate” this, but honestly, if I know the temps and the forecast, I should just run the heaters (different smart plugs)… as long as I have a general idea, I’ll be OK.

This little guy is surprisingly robust for what it is. We put it in our chicken coop to monitor temperature, and it hasn’t dropped out once. I wish there was a better data download feature. You can only get aggregated data, not raw data.

I bought this hygrometer for my cigar humidor. I decided to move on from the analogue hygrometer and what a perfectly right decision this was!This little thing keeps me informed 24/7 if my cigars aren’t at a perfect 69%. I plan to buy a couple more for other cigar storage.It’s a little bit wonky how you get it connected but when the app doesn’t find it, it will walk you through connecting to the devices’ own wifi and then from there it will add itself to your home wifi – the same way Alexa connects itself to your home network. Very clever and easy (in the end).I have found it extremely accurate. I know my humidor will be at 69% because I use the Boveda pouches. Despite this, the app shows it at 70% which, for my purposes, and taking into consideration the cost and convenience, will do me nicely thank you very much. Whilst humidity itself is quite literally relative, the accuracy for me is also relative – so I just have 70% as my norm and any fluctuations that I need to act upon are all relative to that baseline. So whether it’s 69% or 70% that it shows, it doesn’t matter.With that said, it would be nice to be able to calibrate the hygrometer but I haven’t found a way to do that?So far I haven’t got the alerts working for the hygrometer even though another device I have in my Smart Life app manages to alert me correctly. Not sure why the hygrometer doesn’t do the same (I have keenly set up the rules).EDIT: notifications for the hygrometer now working, unsure whether changes 🤷♂️
